as the Hon. Members are aware a Salaries Commission under the Chairmanship of His Honour the Chief Justice has been engaged for some months in an investigation into the emoluments of the members of the Government
Service, from the highest to the lowest. report reached the Government only a few days ago and has been laid on the table of the Council this afternoon. It has not yet received the full consideration of this Government much less the
approval of the Secretary of State and it was therefore not possible to invite Hon. Members to
