Sub-Head 110- Circular Eastern Road

This provides for the first section of a road from Kowloon via Sai Kung to Shatin which has long been considered necessary for the purpose of opening up a portion of the New Territories which is at present practically inaccessible except by water or on foot. It is hoped to complete the road by sections in future

years.

Under Kowloon-Canton Railway the large sum of $330,000 had been provided for eight new passenger coaches. These are required not only to keep pace with our own share of the improving traffic and to enable the older coaches now deteriorating to be kept in a proper state of repair, but also because the Chinese Section is not providing its fair share of coaching stock. Hire is recovered for use on the Chinese Section but the capital expenditure falls wholly on the British Section. It is however necessary to proceed with the work if
