valley is the site of a rapid gravity filtration
plant to deal ultimately with 20 million gallons a
day. The first section of this plant, capable of
filtering five million gallons a day has already been
completed and is now in operation. Adjoining these
filters, there is under construction a covered
reinforced concrete service reservoir with a capacity
of eleven million gallons".
In order that the water from the Sheng-mun
scheme may be available on Hong Kong Island, further
works estimated at cost $361,602 must still be
completed, including a pipe-line across the harbour
described in the Memorandum circulated with C.D.A.C.31
