My Lord,
With reference to Your Lordship's
telegram of the 3rd of September, 1929, approving
of my departure to the Philippines on a visit to
the Governor General, Mr. Dwight Davis, I have the
honour to inform Your Lordship that I expect to
be absent from the Colony from the evening of the
1st of October to the morning of the 28th of
October.
2. I propose to take my leave on half-pay,
so that during my absence Mr. W.T. Southorn as
Officer Administering the Government will draw
half his own pay as Colonial Secretary, half of
the Governor's pay and the whole of the Governor's
entertaining allowance under Colonial Regulation 62.
