I have the honour to acknowledge the

receipt of your telegram lio. 15, dated the 19th Juis, in which you say that the Chinese Government's former telegraph agent in Hong Kong, Chiang lisiao-lu, who is a Kwangsi men, refuses to hand over to Hu lion, the new appointee, and that the Chinese linister for Foreign Affairs asks whether I can assist in this matter, and at least see that, if Er. Chiang dooS not hand over, he does not exercise his functions.

2. The facts of the case are by no means in

accordance with the representations apparently made to you by the Chinese Finister for Foreign Affairs.

You will know from kr. H. 7. Southor's secret

despatch to the Secretary of state for the Colonies, dated the 20th July, 1928, a copy of which was

forwarded to you at the time, that, under

instructions from the Canton Governant, Kr. Kong Siu-
