r. Southern:

Would it not be impossible to

convict anyone? We ought to know what a shop-keeper should have for normal consumption.

He would only have a ton for the purpose of

smuggling it out again.

His Excellency: It is up to our Preventive Service

and the Chinese Preventive Service to catch him, I

will do my best to control it on introduction, on

manufacture and on export.

Hr. Maze: I cannot speak for the Salt Gabelle, but

I see no objection myself to that.

His Excellency: II (f) - Throughout this Article

we spoak of "licensed warehouse".

Is there any

difference between that and a "bonded warehouse" ?

Sir Joseph Kenes Bonded warehouses are those in

which goods are kept until the duty is paid.

Licensed warehouses are those from which goods can be

takun without payment of duty.

Mis Ixcelionen T (g) that I think we can do.

Mr. Lloyds I doubt very much whether they could put

it in a licensed warehouse, apparently licensed

warehouses for salt would be comparatively few.

His Excellency: No, we should have to have a Store near the salt pan, and Government Officers would keep

the koy.

II (h) I think that is alright I do not object

to that.
