Enclosure No. 1.

appresents letter to Surver, Depl dareal..
See $
Hon. Director of Public Works,
I now forward further information asked for in
Secretary of State's despatch No.390 of 27th November, 1928,
as follows: -
(1) Diagram showing triangulation connecting Royal
Observatory Trig Station with existing work.
(2) Observed angles.
(3) Notes as regards log. distances, and azimuth &c. (4) Details and notes as regards longitude.
All the stations have now been permanently fixed, but field observations on Lantao not yet completed.
The stations are periodically visited and kept in repair and a revised list of all stations is now being prepared giving a short description of each and the easiest means of approach, for future reference.
2.
With regard to 20,000 map now in course of product- ion the key plan of which is referred to in Colonel J. St. Winterbotham's letter M.I.4/C/248 of 3rd December, 1928, 1
would draw attention to the fact that no sheets appear to have been taken up to include "Peng Chau" and "Gau Tau" Islands and a portion of the coast of Mirs Bay as far as Mirs Point, the latter being the extreme Eastern boundary of the leased Territories. This however is probably an over-
sight.
3. I would suggest also that the Geographical Section General Staff be asked to forward copies of the sheets as produced to this Government; Nos.6 & 9 are already published.
(Sd.) E. B. Reed,
21st March, 1929.
Superintendent of Surveys.
