COL. OFFICE

My dear Bowyer,

We have now received from you the particulars of the Hong Kong triangulation of which we have spoken on previous occasions.

The data in question provide the means of tying down the triangulation to a position on the earth's surface determined by the Kowloon Observatory.

The next step involves the adjustment of this Observatory Figure to bring the measures into complete harmony with the work already adjusted. This the War Office are prepared to undertake.

The following steps the War Office cannot undertake. These involve the computation of the geographical and rectangular co-ordinates of the stations of the net required to put the whole of the

work on a final basis.

We estimate the cost of putting this out for computation at £30, and desire to know if it is the wish of the Colonial Office that this should be done. We consider it very doubtful if the local Survey Department could execute this computation.

Yours very faithfully,

?

Tomebau
