Inmigrant indebted to be detained in Depot.
Proviso.
Maximum sums for passege money and advances.
17. Every imigrant found upon in examination
under the provisions of this Crder to be indebted for
passage money and advances may be detained in a detention depot until he has made arrangements
satisfactory to the Protector for the payment ofhis debt: provided that no immigrant without his consent
to be signified before the Protector shall be so
detained at any time after such debt hall ve been
paid or for a longer period than 10 days and provided
that no immigrant shall be required without the consent of the Protector to make arrangements for the I payment of a debt incurred on account of passaro money
and advances exceeding firty dollars.
