With reference to our letter of 12th inst
the Letter of Undertaking under Seal of the Bank
addressed to the Governor of Hong Kong was forwarded
by mail of 13th inst. to our Hong Kong Manager.

Manager in Hong Kong, who is apparently under the impres-
sion that the guarantee was to be given to you, inquiring
if we have given you the required guarantee, adding that
this information is urgently required to enable the
proposed Bill to proceed. We are naturally anxious
that there should be no unavoidable delay in proceeding
with the Bill and shall therefore be glad if you can
see your way to inform the Governor of Hong Kong by cable
