Both he and Surgeon Vice-Admiral Gaskell agreed that

it would not be an economic solution to collect any particular

class of case from the different services into one of the

existing hospitals.

Er. Paterson remarked that amalgamation appeared

to entail the building of a vast new hospital.

Dr. Stanton mentioned that the question of a new

civil hospital was under consideration by the Colonial

Government.

After some further discussion the Committee agreed

that although the two Services mainly conogrned were willing

to consider any proposition whereby the Service hospitals could

be amalgamated, this did not at present appear possible.
