Inland Lot No. 1336.

With reference to your letter of the 31st august,

1928, written upon the instructions of Messrs. Butterfield &

Swire, the position as viewed by the Hong Kong Government

1. The Lot was sold by public auction on the 11th day of

July, 1893: The Conditions of Sale appear in G.N. 249 in the

Gazette of 24th June, 1893.

2.

The Taikoo Sugar Refining Co. Limited, hereinafter

referred to as the Company, became the purchaser at such

public auction.

3. The Conditions of such purchase allowed, but did not

bind, the Company, as purchaser, to construct a reservoir

on the Lot.

4.

A Crown Lease, in the usual form and dated the 2nd day

of September, 1895, was issued to the Company.

5.

A Supplemental deed was indorsed on the Crown Lease to

give effect to condition 9 of the Conditions of Sale, a

reservoir having been constructed.

6. Under the said Crown Lease and Supplemental Deed the

Company became, and they now are entitled to use, on the
