16. The estimates given are sketch estimates, and
may vary on obtaining firm quotations, but generally
speaking I can undertake to keep the expenditure
within the limits given.
17. I have not included any sum for Telautograph
gear, as I have not the slightest idea as to cost,
particulars are being obtained from England and will
form the subject of a separate report, which cannot
be completed until Canton's programme of work is
better known.

18. The proposals contained above will provide
for a steady increase of traffic, being handled on
approved lines, it is not to be considered final, but
will be if carried out, a very great improvement to our
present equipment, and as improvement such as this
Colony may reasonably be expected to effect, so as
to keep in line with our neighbours and other Colonies.
