The matter was put before
the Finance Committee on 2nd August and the additional
expenditure was unanimously agreed to and supplementary
supply of $91,440 covering the total estimated
expenditure for the current year under the revised
scheme was voted. A copy of the memorandum to the
Finance Committee is enclosed.

I enclose also a copy of a letter from His
Majesty's Consul-General at Canton to the Minister at
Peking reporting that the Canton Government has
entered into a contract for the erection of forty-eight wireless stations in Kwangtung, at a cost of £650,000.
It is imperative in view of the rapid
development of Wireless in China and neighbouring
countries that this Colony should be in a position to
cope with the constantly increasing traffic and I
request your covering approval of the expenditure
already incurred, and authority to proceed with the
scheme.
In view of the urgency of the matter I shall
be glad to have your decision by telegraph.
