In continuation of Sir Cecil Clementi's Despatch No.189 of 10th April, 1928, regarding the re-organisation of the Hongkong and Canton Wireless Service, I have the honour to enclose for your information a copy of a report dated 31st March, 1928, by Mr. L.H. King, Electrical Engineer, Public Works Department, outlining the position of Wireless in Hong Kong and containing his recommendations for the improvement of the Colony's Service. It was proposed to conduct the short wave transmission to Canton from

Station

Cape D'Aguilar, utilising to a large extent existing buildings, and of the total expenditure to be incurred under the scheme, viz. $165,240, to expend $68,790, during the current year, mainly on new plant.

The report was referred informally to the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council, which unanimously agreed to the proposed expenditure as necessary to keep pace with the times, apart from its value as a commercial investment. In view of the immediate necessity of fulfilling our side of the arrangements made with the Canton Government which was erecting a short wave station
