After that date the employers of any unregistered
mui-tsai who may be discovered will be liable to
prosecution. It is not proposed to prosecute
under paragraph 4 of the principal ordinance
employers of mui-tsai acquired since the coming into
force of the Female Domestic Service Ordinance in 1923 and before the 1st of December, 1929, provided
that these register before the six months period has
expired, and this decision will be made known to the
public through the vernacular press in due course.
7. With reference to the concluding sentence
of paragraph 8 of Your Lordship's despatch I have
been able to make arrangements to strengthen the
staff of the Secretariat for Chinese Affairs for
the present by an additional cadet officer.

The constitution of the Hong Kong Society
for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children has now
been drafted and it is hoped that it will be
possible to proceed with the formal inauguration of
the Society very shortly. Full particulars will
be, forwarded in due course.
