I am commanded by the Air Council to refer to

Colonial Office letter of the 4th March, 62753/29, on

the subject of the aerodrome at Kai Tak, Hong Kong, and

to acquaint you, for the information of the Secretary of

State for the Colonies, that the Council do not consider

it necessary to adopt any of Mr. Dawson's recommendations

at present. All they suggest is that the disposal of

land or developments which would prejudice the recommenda-

tions being carried out at some future date should, if

possible, be avoided.

In reply to the enquiry in the second paragraph

of the letter, I am to state that the extreme eastern

corner of the aerodrome would be required for future

Royal Air Force developments.

The temporary accommodation at present occupied

by the aircraft of the Fleet Air Arm is on the western

edge of the aerodrome, but if at any time the Hong Kong
