undertaking that if the hangar is erected on this site the

Government of Hong Kong will agree to evacuate the hangar when

called upon to do so, provided that the Council agree to build

and hand over to them equivalent accommodation on the site

reserved for civil aviation on the western side of the aero-

dome, or as an alternative purchase at an agreed valuation the

part of the hangar so evacuated.

Further, the Council wish to make it clear that as

it may be necessary in the near future to develop the Royal Air

Force site to meet Royal Air Force requirements it will not be

possible for them to agree to the erection of any buildings for

civil aviation purposes on the eastern site, which is reserved

for Royal Air Force requirements other than the hangar now in

question.

The Council consider that as the hangar proposed will

be of standard size and permanent construction it would be more

convenient if it were to be erected on the site for the southern

seaplane shed shown on plan H.K.1 rather than on that for the

northern seaplane shed originally recommended by Mr. Dawson.

The Council propose that the design and specification

of the hangar should be prepared in this Department in order that

it may conform to Royal Air Force requirements. Purchase could,

however, be made by the Crown Agents for the Colonies and the

work of erection would presumably be undertaken by the Public

Works Department, Hong Kong.

I am, Sir,

Your obedient Servant,

9. Mobi.
