I am commanded by the Air Council to refer to
Colonial Office letter of the 11th May, 62753/29, transmit-
ting a copy of a despatch from the Governor of Hong Kong on
the subject of civil aviation developments at Kai Tak
aerodrome.
In reply I am to acquaint you, for the information
of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, that the Council
would be glad to co-operate with the Government, of Hong Kong
in building a new permanent hangar for the joint use of
Civil and Royal Air Force aircraft. No provision for the
service has been made in. Air Estimates for the current finan-

cial year, but the Council would propose, subject to the
approval of the Treasury, to insert provision for half the
cost of the hangar in the estimates for 1930-31.
As the site on which it is proposed to erect the
hangar is on the eastern edge of the aerodrome, which the
Council desire to reserve for eventual Royal Air Force
requirements, they consider it necessary to ask for an
