In order to complete our plans for the Hongkong to
Shanghai service, we must have permission for our
machines (seaplanes) to slight at certain recognized areas
at the ports of Foockow, Amoy and swatow. Would Your
Excellency kindly ascertain on our behalf whether the Fukien
Provincial Government has any objection to the landing of
our seaplanes at the ports of Foochow and Amoy? If permission
is granted, we should like to be advised of the conditions
governing same and, if agreeable to you, our representative
could discuss actual details with your appointed representa-
tive or whosoever you may nominate to deal with this matter.
I think Your Excellency will be pleased to hear
that one of our plans is the formation of a Hongkong kero Club,
in which both Chinese and British cubjects are cordially
being invited to join. This scheme is receiving very strong
support from Chinese residents in Hongkong and there is no
doubt whatever that this year will see Chinese and British
subjects joining together towards making the Country
"airminded" and, generally, furthering the cause of Aviation
throughout China.
I am unavoidably compelled to return by stemmer to
Amoy, sailing tomorrow morning and will thus be prevented
from discussing this matter with you personally, May 1,
therefore, request Your Excellency to address any communios-
tion to me, care of Boyd & Co., Foochow, where it will
receive the immediate attention of my staff.
Any assistance which you may be pleased to render us
in this connection will be greatly appreciated and will
