There has been a distinct advance

towards the various problems of the Hong Yong
Water Supply.
(1)
Aberdeen Scheme.
Sir C. Clementi has persuaded the
Unofficial Members to agree to this as well as
to the prosecution of further measures for
getting water from the mainland and the work will
be pushed on immediately. Approval of this has
already been given.
(2) Extension of Shing Mun Scheme.
The Engineers are still investigating

the second section of the scheme. As an immediate
measure to increase storage on the mainland the
Governor proposes the construction of a reservoir
known as the Kowloon Byewash Reservoir.

not form part of the original, Shing Mun Scheme

but is intimately connected In view of the
urgency of the matter he has directed the commencement
of work on this in anticipation of the S. of S's.
