end.m 50

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt

of your telegram of the 23rd November on the subject of motor

vessel "Wing Hung" and to report on the enquiries made before

His Majesty's Consul-General at Canton was recommended to

grant permission for the ship to ply under the British Flag

in Chinese Inland Waters.

2.

The first report received by this Government

regarding the "Wing Hung" was received from His Majesty's

Consul-General on the 9th January, 1928; and this was

followed by despatch No.24 of the 19th January notifying the

withdrawal of trading facilities from the ship. Copies of

these documents are enclosed.

3.

The owners, at that time, the Kwong On Co.,

Ltd., were able to produce satisfactory evidence of British

ownership and the Consul General was informed accordingly as

in the enclosed letter dated 1st March, 1928.

4.

Subsequent correspondence is attached to

Canton despatch No.144 of 17th September to Peking, to which your telegram refers and which is, I presume, already in

your hands.

5.

On the 8th of June Mir. Honsanh Loud alias Lau

Hon Sang, made an application for a British Born Subject

Certificate

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

LIEUTENANT COLONEL L.C.M.S. AMERY, M.2.,
