If funds permit, the urgently necessary work
in connexion with the conservancy of the Hopei rivers
and the Huai river will similarly be financed out of the
monies in question.
With regard to future instalments of indemnity
funds, these will be administered and apportioned by a
Board of Trustees to be created by the Chinese government
in accordance with the plan as laid down in the second
paragraph of the present note."

"I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of
Your Excellency's note of today's date on the subject
of the disposal of the balance of the British share of
the indemnity of 1901, in which you inform me of the
intention of the Chinese government, in the event of
the British government returning the said indemnity
funds to their control, to create out of the said
indemnity funds an endowment to be devoted to educational
purposes, in harmony with the general views set forth
in the report of the Anglo-Chinese Advisory Committee
published in 1926.
I am communicating the text of Your Excellency's note to His Majesty's Government for their consideration, and in the meantime by the direction of my government I have the honour to suggest to Your Excellency that a sum of £250,000, and a further sum of £200,000, be set
