His Excellency offered his congratulations on
the cessation of civil war in Kuangtung and Kuangsi and
the re-commencement of pacification work.

His Excellency said that he wished to explain
to General Chan the position with regard to the Kwangsi
Generals. He pointed out that it was doubtful whether
we had the legal power to expel them. He then asked
Sir Shou-son Chow to explain how the matter stood.
Sir Shou-son said that he had not been able to
learn their intentions before on account of the illness
of Mr. Kong Siu Lui. Accordingly as the matter was urgent
he paid a personal visit first to General Tsui King Tong
and then to Marshal Li Tsung-jen.
