5th Conference, the Kuomintang was in fact in exceptionally
great danger. But all this was only the result of corruption
and selfishness. If immediate steps were not taken to keep
them under control, it was to be feared that dissension
similar to that at Wuhan would take place again: it would be
like a boil which would be beyond remedy when it burst.
