According to the local press Chu Tak is an alias of

one Wong Kai, a Hunanese, who was formerly a regimental commander under Chu Pui-ta.

As such

he took part in the Northern Expedition, and

subsequently acted as Police Commissioner at Nanchang. When Yip Ting and Ho Lung invaded Kiangsi in the summer

of 1927, he joined them and led an invasion with a

small force into Southern Hunan, where he established

himself (while Yip and Ho pushed on into Testern Kwangtung) and recruited a force of local bandits which

was known as the Southern Hunan Red Garrison Troops.

In 1928, after the suppression of the communist outbreak in Kwangtung, a force sent by the Canton Government ejected him and drove him into the mountains

of Southern Kiangsi, from which base he makes periodical raids into the neighbouring provinces.

Mo Chak-tung is a Hunanese and an old

member of the Communist Party. He was at one time

ecutive Committee of the Kuomintang;

on the Central

but, when the communists broke away from the

Kuomintang, Borodin sent him from Henkow to take charge of communist activities in Hunan, where he recruited en army of bandits and peasants and joined Chu Tak in establishing the Hunan Soviet. In January of this year the forces under these two persons emerged from the mountains and captured and burned the town of Nam Hung in Northern Kwangtung.
