of the Nth January and the lat Jebruary, I have the
honour to inform you that on the 22nd January 1929,
Ir.Liang Shih-yi, an ex-premier of China, calle to
visit me accompanied by Sir Chou-son Chow, the Senior
Chinese Member of the Hong Kong Legislative Council.
Je had a conversation à trois in Cantonese which
lasted about an hour and a half and I enclose a
memorandum subsequently dictated by Ir. Liang to
Dr. R.. Kotewall, the Second Chinese Member of the
Hong Kong Legislative Council, giving succinctly the
gist of our conversation. You will observe that
Fr. Jiang's view of the political situation in China
is very similar to that presented to you in my secret despatch of the 15th January and derived from
other Chinese sources.
