Speech by WU HON MAN at the Weekly Memorial Service.

At 9 a.m. on the 14th (of January, 1929 )

the Central Kuomintang Department held its 49th weekly Memorial Service. These were present. WU HON MAN and the staff of the Department. WU HON MAN presided. In his speech, he said, "The Disarmament Conference

has been held, and all military problems have been solved. We Chinese generally have the deficiency of being unable to carry out resolutely what is projected. However excellent our projects may be, they cannot be

of any good unless we carry them out. The recent

Di sarmament Conference constitutes the criterion for

both Chinese and Foreigners to judge the power of our Kuomintang in carrying out its principles and policies.

I hope you will all help in the carrying out of what

has been resolved at the Conference.

Next we come to the diplomatic question.

The Chinese abroad have been subjected to oppression

by the Imperialists which is growing more serious every

day. The Imperialists entertain the idea that we

Chinese are used to insults and exploitation.

at the same time, we must become powerful and then no-

body will dare to insult us. It was because of the oppression of the Imperialists that Chinese had to go

abroad to the colonies of the foreigners, where they

are made tools and are victimized. In the Straits Settlements and other places, especially in the Dutch Colonies, the Chinese are not only treated not as the subjects of a country of equal standing but have also
