9. If the Kwongsi leaders did not act quickly and

wisely, disaster would be their lot. The Kwongtung

leaders, except Admiral Chan Chak, have no wish to fight Kwongsi, but they may be driven to do so if Chiang Kai-shek

were to send Chang Fat-fui back to Kwongtung ostensibly

for the purpose of assisting Kwongtung in its defence

against Kwongsi. Owning allegiance to the Central

Government, Kwongtung could not, under the circumstance,

refuse admittance to Chang Fat-fui's forces which, once

back in the province, may supplant "their hosts".
