With reference to your despatch No.99

of 11th April, 1927, approving of the postponement of the appointment of the additional Assistant Auditor for whom provision was made in the Estimates for 1927, I have the honour to inform you that Sir Cecil Clementi had come to the conclusion, with which I agree, that it is essential that the existing staff of the Audit Department should be strengthened.

2.

The unfilled post of 3rd Assistant Auditor (£400 to £600 by 2 annual increments of £25 and 3 of £50) appears in the Estimates for 1928 but I entirely concur in the view expressed by Sir Cecil Clementi that what is required is an assistant of some · experience and seniority capable of taking the place of Mr. Dallin 1st Assistant Auditor (£650 to £900 by £50 annually) when the latter goes on leave and generally able to take greater responsibility than could be expected of an inexperienced officer on the scale £400 to £600.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

LIEUTENANT COLONEL L.C.M.S.AMERY, K.P.,
