of a Superintendent of that standing.

8. In conclusion we would mention that with due

regard to all the circumstances and conditions of service, the present pay scheme of Superintendents, (with its 19 years of increments of £25 per annum) works considerably to their disadvantage in comparison with the pay scheme of

Cadets. (A Cadet Officer cammences increments of £50 per

annum after 4 years service, attaining his maximum salary

of £1200 per annum after 19 years service). Further it

may be noted that out of an establishment of 10 Super intend-

ents there is only one senior post (i.e. Captain Superintend-

ent of Police) to which a Superintendent can be appointed.

Appointments to the post of Captain Superintendent of Police

in the past have been:-

Sir F.H. May appointed 1893 after 12 years service.
