I have the honour to inform you that Council

of the University of Hong Kong has sanctioned a proposal submitted by the Senate for the appointment of a Lecturer in

Physics and a Lecturer in Chemistry on a salary scale in

each case rising by 220 annually to £550 and thereafter by

£25 annually to £600.

2.

Following the course adopted in the case of

Mr. Trayes of whose appointment as Lecturer and Tutor in

26384 Inglish I was informed in your despatch Ho.257 of 12th August Trayes 1926, I shall be glad of the Board of Education may be

requested to be so good as to advertise particulars of the

vacancies and to recommend candidates. Copies of the

statements showing general conditions of the service in the

University of Hong Kong are enclosed.

3.

All expenses incurred by the Board of

Education in connection with the filling of the two vacancies

will be met by the University of Hong Kong.
