of the lorry was underestimated.

I decided that this excess

should be properly met from the Corps private funds. The

amount should have been debited to the advance account

pending refund from the Corps funds, and an advance warrant

was actually signed. A misunderstanding however arose, as

the Volunteer Defence Corps applied for a supplementary vote

which was not allowed. The sum in question was actually

recovered from the Corps funds in June, 1928, and paid into

the Treasury and credited to a new sub-head of revenue

"Recovery of 1927 Expenditure". It does not appear necessary

therefore for a further special vote to be taken in respect

of this amount.
