Regulations made by the Governor in Council under section 4 of the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, 1923, Ordinance No. 22 of 1923, on the 12th day of April, 1928.
The regulations made by the Governor in Council under the above Ordinance on the 4th October, 1923, and published in the Gazette on the 5th October, 1923, are amended as follows:-
I. Regulation 1 is rescinded and the following regulation is substituted therefor :- 1. These regulations shall, except where otherwise expressed, apply to all the drugs to which the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, 1923, from time to time for the time being applies.
II. The following regulation is inserted immediately after regulation 1:-
1A. In these regulations:-
INTERPRETATION.
(a) "registered dentist" means a registered dental surgeon, or an exempted person, within the meaning of the Dentistry Ordinance, 1914;
"
(b) "registered medical practitioner ", and "medical practitioner", and duly qualified medical practitioner" mean a medical practitioner duly registered under the Medical Registration Ordinance, 1884, or a licenciate of the Hong Kong College of Medicine.
III. Regulation 5 is amended as follows:-
(a) Paragraph (1) is rescinded and the following paragraph is substi-
tuted therefor:--
(1) The prescription must be in writing, must be dated and signed by the registered medical practitioner, registered dentist, or approved veterinary surgeon, as the case may be, with his usual signature and address, and must specify the name and address of the person for whose use the prescrip- tion is given, and the total amount of the drugs to be supplied on the prescription, except that in the case of a preparation which is contained in the British Pharmacopeia or the British Pharmaceutical Codex and which is not combined with any other preparation of any of the drugs not so contained, it shall be sufficient to state the total amount of the prepara- tion to be so supplied. A prescription shall only be given by a registered medical practitioner when required for pur- poses of medical treatment.
(b) Paragraph (7) is rescinded.
IV. Paragraph (1) of Regulation 6 is amended as follows:-
(a) The figure "5" is substituted for the figure "6" in the second and
seventh lines thereof.
(b) The word an" is substituted for the word the "in the fifteenth
line thereof.
V. Regulation 7 is amended as follows:-
(a) The words "or otherwise authorised" are inserted immediately
after the word "licensed " in paragraph (1).
(b) Paragraph (3) is rescinded and the following paragraph is substi-
tuted therefor :----
(3) he is licensed or otherwise authorised to be in possession of
the drug.
