Sir,

Enclosure No. 5.

Royal Air Force Base,

Kai Tak,

Kowloon, 24th May, 1928.

The Colonial Secretary,

Fong Kong.

(a)

Para: 1 sub.para.(d).

CAPITAL AND SUBSIDY.

I gathered from the Macao representative that the Macao Goverment considered that a reasonable share

for them to subscribe towards the required subsidy

would be $50,000.00.

(b) The Canton representative seemed to be of the

(၁)

opinion that a subsidy over five years would be

difficult.

The Canton representatives informed me unofficially that the Canton Government were willing to subscribe $150,000.00 H.K. towards the capital, this sum having been already mentioned to Sir Cecil Clamenti, F.C.G

by Marshal Li Chei Sun.

Para. 2.

RIGHTS OF OPERATION AND GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE.

The Canton representatives are in agreement with

this paragraph, but they can give no promise as to

rights
