Dear Mr. Ellis,
I send you the attached copy of a letter
from the Air Ministry to the Colonial Office in
regard to a scheme for an experimental civil air
service between Canton and Hong Kong. We should be
grateful if a very early reply could be sent to the
War Office on the matter. This is, I appreciate, a
suggestion that the Colonial Office should act very
quickly as compensation for the Air Ministry having
acted too slowly, as the War Office asked our views
on the matter as far back as November 29th. Some
delay has been caused here through the service side
and the civil aviation side both being interested;
our papers were also referred to the Secretary of
State here.
We do not know whether the Colonial Office
have heard anything from the Civil authorities at
W.D. Ellis, Esq., C.M.G.,
Colonial Office,
S.W.1.
