It will be convenient to consider these
three groups separately.
As regards the staff for which provision is
made under Head No.5, I would refer you to my confidential
despatch of 26th May, 1928, in which I have recommended
the appointment of Mr. Davies to the post of Chief
Clerk, rendered vacant by the departure of
Mr. Bullock.
The post of Confidential Assistant and
Stenographer is held by Miss Thornhill who was
appointed in 1926. Miss Thornhill has proved herself
a most reliable and capable officer and has rendered
very valuable services in the difficult period
following the departure of Mr. Bullock. Her time is
now fully taken up by her duties as Confidential
Assistant and she is no longer available for
stenographic work except when special skill or
secrecy is required. In recognition of the very
satisfactory way in which she performs the more
responsible
