With reference to your letter Ko.D/45 of 21st
April, 1926, proposing to apply to the War Office for authority
to re-convey "The Kowloon Peak Barrack Sites" to this
Government and to War Office letter No.119/Abroad/506 (D.L.I.A.)
of 19th August, 1926 (copy enclosed) to the Colonial Office
intimating that in the light of post-war requirements, it will
be necessary to retain these sites, I am directed to invite
your attention to the fact that, when early in 1927 it became
necessary to find sites for camps to accommodate the Shanghai
Defence Force, the Kowloon Peak Barrack sites were not
utilised nor any portion of the Kowloon Peak or Ngau Tau Kok
Military Reserves.

Moreover this Government has recently been
requested to reserve an area at Chuk Un with a view to the
possibility of utilising it for a permanent camp.

I am therefore to enquire whether in the light
of these experiences the continued reservation of the "Kowloon
Peak Barrack Sites" is longer necessary.
