That your Memorialist is a Norwegian Subject having been

born at Lyngor in Norway on 29 th March 1870, and is aged now 57

years and professes the Christian Religion.

That your Memorialist's father Ole Olsen and his mother

Charitte Olsen were both Norwegians by nationality having been

born at Rode in Norway.

3.

That after several years of apprenticeship in Scotland,

your Memorialist passed an examination in marine engineering

held at Glasgow on 30th December 1899, and was awarded on the

23rd of August 1902 a "certificate of Competency as a First

Class Engineer in the Merchant Service" by the Board of Trade,

London.

4.

That for the last 25 years your Memorialist has served as

an engineer on board steamers owned by Britishers or British

Subjects and flying the British flag, in the Eastern Waters.

That during this period of 25 years your Memorialist has,

whenever he was not at sea, resided in His Majesty's dominions

viz.,Singapore, Hongkong, Calcutta, Bombay and other places,

with the intention of settling permanently in the British

Empire.

That your Memorialist has for the last three years

continuously, whenever he was not on service at Sea, resided

in British India.

That your Memorialist was married on 14th February 1912

to Alette Jensen.
