Gentlemen,
With reference to your letter of the 19th April
regarding the proposed application by George Ludvig Rode for
for a Certificate of Naturalization, I am directed by the
Secretary of State to say that he has no power to dispense with
the statutory requirement that an applicant for a certificate of
naturalization must have been resident in the United Kingdom for
twelve months preceding the application, and cannot regard
Mr. Rode as having satisfied this requirement. In the
circumstances described his proper course will be to make
application to the British authorities at Singapore on his
return there.
I am also to express regret for the delay which has
occurred in replying to your letter.
Messrs. Syminton & Blair,
94, Hope Street,
GLASGOW.
I am, Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
