Hom. D.P.7.
In my report and estimate dated 31/3/20 the
estimated cost of the W/T improvements necessary was given as $165,240, this estim te covered the cost of plant, minor
lterations to buildings at D'Aguiler and the preliminary
expenses in connection with a new site for an additonal station.
Since writing this report a site at Victoria
Feek already suitable for the erection of buildings has been allocated to tis Department, this enables far more rapid development of the Wireless Dervice to take place, and brings
into the years 1928 and 1929 expenditure that would otherwise
have been dels ed to 1930, 1931. It is most desirable that the
work be proceeded with in accordance with my ended estimate which I ttach, es although the expenditure is greatly increased
it ensures thet ur v lueble plant will be housed i perrenent
and suitable buildings.
3. The new site being within the fog belt involves
the provision of dehumidifying plent, see item 10.
4. In addition to the change of site, it is now
proposed to establish a proper Radio Office in the ground floor
of the P0. Building, this will affect a great improvement
in the facilities offered to the Public for the despatch of
telegrams.
