With reference to my despatch No.507 of 22nd December, 1926, on the subject of the selection of Assistant Mistresses for the Education Department, I have the honour to request that the revised memorandum of the terms of appointment and service enclosed herewith may be substituted for that forwarded in the despatch under reference.

I would invite your attention to the fact
that in connection with the more recent appointments of mistresses no statement of the age, qualifications and experience of the appointee has been furnished as was formerly the custom (see your despatch ilo.255 of 19th August, 1924). It is essential that this Government should know the age of its officers and the information concerning previous experience is of considerable assistance to the Director of
I would Education in allotting the duties of recruits. accordingly request that the custom of forwarding such statements may be resumed.
