Petition dated 9th February, 1928 and signed by A.R.Burkill & ons and others, praying that the Companies Ordinance 1911 of Hongkong may be amended
in certain respects.
1.
This Petition in effect prays for the amendment of Hongkong Ordinance No. 58 of 181l in two respects, namely:-
(a) in the first place it is desired that ection 273(1) of the 1911 Ordinance (originally Section 7(1) of Ordinance No. 31 of 1915) may be amended so
as to make Jection 35 of the 1911 urdinance appàic- able in the case of China Companies.

(b) In the second place it is desired that Section 35 of the 1911 Ordinance may be amended so as to
permit of a Company being licensed to keep a local
register in London, even though such Company does
not carry on any part of its business there.
inasmuch # Hongkong Ordinance No. 31 of 1915 and the China
(Companies) Order in Council 1915 were put into force siml-
taneously by previous arrangement between the Colonial office
and the foreign uffice, it would seem that any such amendments
A8 bove referred to would require the previous consideration
of both those Departments of H.M.Government.
2.
The Petitioners complain that the provisions of
section 7(1) of liongkong urdinance fo. 1 of 1915 *wrought a
real hardship to shareholders in Ching Companies," in that
the bection deprived such Companies of the privilege "of
keeping a register of Members at some place other than at
