Prior to the year 1915 #11 British concerns had
of necessity to seek incorporation under the provisions
of the Companies Ordinances of Hongkong at Longkong sa
being the only place in China where a register of
Com anies under British jurisdiction existed and this
irrespective of whether any part of the Company's business
was carried on within the limits of the Colony. This
meant that the Companies had to mint in a registered
office in hongkong, where the official register of members
was kept, but under secti n 30 of the nongkong CompanÌ. 68
úrdinance No. 58 of lvll such companies were enabled to
obtain a licence from the registrar of Companies to keep
locl registers and many of thom did so. As a result of
the longkong, Companies ordinance o. 3 of 1915 und the
China Companies order in Council 1915, a Companies'
kerister # ☎ established at listighad and every China
Company, which meɛns "a Company the operations of which
ere directed and controlled from some place within the
limits of the Ching. Companies urder in Council 1915" which
wes on the Register in Hongkong, was transferred to the
Register in Shanghai and us from this year every China
Co pany/
