presented by the Instone Banking Corporation.

by the Netherlands Trading Society.
That drawn in favour of Man Lee Co. had been presented
by the Equitable Eastern Banking Corporation.
The Police proceeded to investigate the accounts through
which the cheques had been presented.
It was found that at the end of August, 1927m a man
who gave his name as Chan Man Wai called on the Manager of
the Instone Banking Corporation Ltd. and said that he
wished to open a current account in the name of Min Tak Co., of China Building, 6th Floor. He stated that he was a
contractor and hoped to get Government Contracts.
He was informed that he would have to produce a letter
of authorization and a list of partners.
On the 2nd September he produced a letter of authoriz-
ation and list of partners, showing as partners Young Ah
Yao, Yueng Pak Chuen and Chan Man Wai and authorizing
signatures by the last named.

He opened the account by paying in $3,500. in notes.
Only two other payments were made into the account in

$500 on 8th October; $570.75 on 13th October.
A number of small payments were made out of the account,
but there were in 1927 only six payments exceeding $100.00
