HONG KONG & SHANGHAI BANKING CORPORATION.

The Honourable

The Colonial Treasurer,

Hong Kong.

sir,

Hong Kong, 17th October, 1927.

HONG KONG AND SHANGHAI BANKING CORPORATION

NOTE ISSUE.

I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter

of 5th October, and in reply to same have the honour to

state that the suggestions made by His Majesty's Treasury

will entirely meet with this Bank's requirements.

The most convenient point for export from

America to Hong Kong is San Francisco, and I am accordingly

writing to the Manager of our office at that port to enquire the best form of procedure for lodging the gold

when required.

I confirm that the power to earmark gold in

America will only be utilised to meet seasonal and temporary

fluctuations of our Note Issue.

I have, &c.,

(Sd.) A. C. Hynes,

Chief Manager.
