Re Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporat-
Ion's proposed New Ordinance.
As the result of a recent conference between the
Honourable Sir Henry Pollock and the Honourable the Attorney General, the Bank desires to have the following amendments made to the draft Ordinance which has already been submitted to you.
The object of such amendments is to prevent the
possibility of any doubts or questions being raised after the
passing of the new Ordinance as to the continuity of the
incorporation of the Bank as the same entity.
In the first place it is desired that the title of
the Ordinance should be amended to read as follows:- "An
Ordinance to amend the constitution of the Hong Kong and
Shanghai Banking Corporation.

It is also desired that the present Section 3 of
the draft Ordinance should be deleted and that the following
clause should be inserted in its place:-
"The Bank shall continue to be and shall remain
"incorporated but there shall from henceforth be no limit
"whatever to the duration of the period of its incorporation.
The marginal note to the above clause will remain
the same.
