I am directed to acknowlxge the receipt of

your telegram of 8th June, 1928, and to confim my telegraa of 6th July, 1928, informing you that this Goverment agrees to the inter-scheduling of Hong Kong: ani ibraltar for

pension purposes with effect from lst April, 1927. The Hong Kong Pension inute is being amended in accordance with

the policy explained in my letter of loth pril, ala, Wich

the proposed manisante bave received the sanction of the

Scoretary of State, a copy of this inute will be forvarti ed

to you.

2. The arrangesents now adoptai will affect the i

calculation of the pension of r. J. B. Grook, C.B.. A

statement of the aggregate pensionable doluante drawn by

hia in respcot of his service in Now! Kon:: was forwarded to

Fecretary of State in ir. Southorn'a dewatch lio.427 of

14th October, 1927. This statement, however, did not take

account of the principle now being adopted namely that the

agregate mount of the pensionable solutunte should be

taken as tim total amount of salary which the officer would

have drewn had he been on duty on full pay in his substantive
