On
the whole, the most logical construction seems to
me to be this
The letter of appointment containing
the words quoted provides a contract for (1) half
pay leave mentioned, and (2) vacation leave in
accordance with the General Orders of the Colony
relating to such leave. Now, "the General Orders
of the Colony relating to such leave" must mean
the General Orders of the Colony relating to the
people whom we are discussing, namely, temporary
staff. The General Orders relating to temporary
staff provide that such staff are not entitled to
any leave of absence unless it is so stated
