The following questions were discusseu;

(1) The extent of increased supplies necessary.

It appeared from information now received from

Hong Kong that the total deficiency in the Water Supply

would amount by 1932 to over 4 million gallons a day even

allowing for supplies from the first section of the Shing

Mun Scheme. It appeared obvious, therefore, that very

considerable further waterworks would be necessary in the

not very distant future, and Sir C. Clementi was firmly

of opinion that the whole of the supplies from all sections

of the Shing Mun Scheme would eventually be necessary for

the use of Kowloon. It was generally agreed that it would

be desirable to proceed immediately with the Aberdeen

Scheme, plans for which are ready, as that would provide

the quickest means of increasing the supplies for the

Colony as a whole.

As shown by the latest telegram from Hong Kong

it is also necessary to provide the promptest possible

relief for Hong Kong Island. This can only be done by

enabling
